You are at higher risk if

- You are 50 years old and above
- You have a family history of breast cancer Other risk factors include
- A history of ovarian cancer
- Early onset of menses
- Late menopause
- Being on hormone replacement therapy
- Having no children or children after 35 years old
- Excess alcohol in take
- Weight gain, especially after menopause

How Can I protect myself?​

- Going for regular mammograms helps detect breast cancer earlier
- Mammograms are a low dose X-Ray which can help detect abnormalities in the breast tissue

- For women aged 40-49 years old mammogram is recommended once yearly
- For women aged 50 years old and above mammogram is recommended once every 2 years
